Stranded

We'll yesterday went well. The alternator gave out on the 626 on the way up to Toronto. I started to loose power on the way back and ended up at Burloak Dr. I may have made it if I didn't wander around Toronto for a half an hour trying to find a way to get back to the QEW/Gardner, and then got stuck if traffic just off the Gardner Expres Way. I tried limping home by keeping my revs up until I hit some more traffic the last few dozen kilometers before the QEW. I would shift into neutral and rev the heck out of the car, I would get power back around 4K RPMs, until I had to slam on my brakes just before Burloak Dr. and she stalled. I have the Canadian Tire auto plan but it covers only my car, and my mom has CAA, but it covers the car that she's currently in. Even worse was that even though we got CAA to make an exception and help us out, the basic plan only covers 10km of towing, what a joke! After that it's $2/km, or $200 it cost me to get home. Once everything is settled and fixed, I'm getting the CAA plan that covered 200km towing...it'll be more expensive, but it's only a yearly fee, and I gas up very often at Sonoco, especially with the Mx-3 since they have Ultra 94, which you get double points towards CAA when you gas up with Ultra, so it would actually end up being free, or pretty damn close.

Lately I've been working with Oscar from http://www.pakfeifercanada.com to help his new website design and webstore. Fortunately I've worked with the exact same webstore backend at http://www.lgstore.ca, so it's been easy going to far, and the new site looks great!

So far the new job is going great! Although I haven't started, and won't for a few weeks until the training is done, the guys I'm with are hilarious, so far nothing but good times, but I'll have to keep my final opinion until I get some real working done.

Format, LCD and New Job

Three things. First of all I got a job in Mississauga for a bilingual tech support for Microsoft. That starts officially on Tuesday. It's about an hour to an hour and a half drive each way, so I'll be putting alot of milleage on the cars, but I'm planning to look for a place near by after working there for a few weeks. For the drive I'll more likely be using the 626; cheaper on gas, automatic which will be nice in traffic, and air conditioning, which the Mx-3 doesn't have.

Secondly, I finally upgrade my computer monitor. I was still using the old 15" Daewoo CRT from out first computer and it's been replaced with an LG L1710BK 17" LCD...georgeous monitor, sexy black, and really handy USB ports on the arm, although I finally reconnected by front USB ports after several months, and getting frustrated of reaching behind the machine to use my 256MB Apacer Handy Steno which is attached to my keychain.

And lastly, I finally reformated and installed Windows XP with Service Pack 2. A recently accquired a Samsung 40GB hard drive which was just enough space to clear my Primary 120GB Western Digital for a format. Damn it feels nice and runs alot better. The installation must have been about a year old, if not a little less, so it defintely did some good.

Hmmm...Cup Holders

Well I finally got cupholders for the Mx-3. Won an auction on eBay for them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7950548879. A rare but useful item that seems to lack in most early '90's japanese imports, including the 626 and my sister's 1993 Honda Prelude, although she's a big coffee drinker, she prolly misses them more than me.
